The Role & Responsibilities

The Assistant Relationship Manager (ARM) is key to supporting our Senior Relationship Managers with the primary tasks being the onboarding of new customers, processing new applications and pipeline management of cases in flight, and managing new enquiries through to allocation.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support Senior Relationship Managers across the onboarding of new customers, management of pipeline and new enquiries, and the execution of loans from application through to completion, including co-ordination of the legal and documentary complexities involved in getting a case to completion.
  • The ARM will also assist with diary planning and to ensure that RMs are fully briefed and provisioned prior to client or broker meetings.
  • The role is primarily office based however there will be requirement on occasion to attend client meetings, including when deputizing for RMs.
  • The role also allows for direct management of clients as allocated by the RM.
  • The ARM will ensure that all new cases are fully packed to ensure the smoothest journey through the due dilligence process and onto completion, taking ownership of the legal execution of each transaction: tracking conditions precedent, liaising with the bank's and customers' solicitors, and helping resolve legal or documentary complexities so that cases progress to completion without unnecessary delay.

The Person

Qualifications/Certification

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English
  • Experience (type & level)
  • Experience or working knowledge of the legal process for completing secured lending transactions (conditions precedent, loan documentation, liaising with solicitors)
  • A working understanding of the commercial mortgage sector
  • An excellent understanding of mortgages and the financial services market
  • Must have experience in a client facing role
  • Experience in working with customers and introducers, providing them with high levels of customer service
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
  • Good working knowledge of the commercial underwriting and support process.
     

Technical/Specialist Knowledge & Skills

Technical

  • Computer literate (good knowledge of MS Office suite – Excel, Word, Power-Point)
  • Knowledge of TCF & Consumer Duty
  • Good knowledge of compliance procedures within the mortgage industry.
  • Able to read and understand financial accounts, valuations, business appraisals and credit searches, and a working knowledge of loan documentation and the conditions precedent process to completion.
