The Role & Responsibilities

As a Business Analyst within Shawbrook’s Commercial space, your primary focus will be on driving the bank’s strategic digital and technology transformation agenda. You will play a key role in analysing, designing, and optimising systems, APIs, and data integrations to enable seamless connectivity across platforms and support the delivery of scalable, intelligent digital products.

In this role, you’ll combine deep analytical thinking with strong technical understanding to bridge the gap between business and technology, helping Shawbrook realise its ambition of building modern, data-driven, and AI-enabled financial products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Your main responsibility will be to analyse and optimise Shawbrook’s systems, software, and data integrations, with a particular focus on APIs, automation, and emerging AI capabilities. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Architecture, and Operations teams to design technically robust solutions that improve performance, scalability, and user experience. Acting as the bridge between business needs and technical delivery, you will translate complex requirements into clear, actionable outcomes that enhance both customer and colleague journeys.
  • To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a collaborative problem-solver with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. You’ll engage across the organisation — including with Product, Operations, Risk, and Technology — to ensure alignment between business priorities and technical delivery. Your ability to articulate complex technical concepts in clear business terms will be key to influencing decision-making and ensuring successful outcomes.
  • As a self-starter, you’ll take ownership of your work, driving analysis and delivery with precision and accountability. You’ll be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, product-led environment — proactively identifying opportunities for improvement, mitigating delivery risks, and ensuring that solutions meet Shawbrook’s strategic and technical standards.

The Person

  • Delivery in Product: You should have a strong understanding of agile product delivery and technical implementation within a product-led environment. Familiarity with agile ceremonies, sprint cycles, and tools such as JIRA, Miro and Confluence will enable you to effectively collaborate with engineering, data, and product teams. You will play a key role in translating business needs into clear technical requirements — ensuring API integrations, data flows, and system enhancements are delivered efficiently, securely, and to a high standard.
  • Analytical Mindset: You will apply a technically focused analytical mindset to break down complex systems, data structures, and integration challenges into clear, actionable insights. By interrogating data, mapping APIs, and visualising system dependencies, you will identify opportunities to improve performance, automate processes, and enhance user experience. Your ability to think critically and solve technical problems will be essential to delivering robust, future-ready solutions.
  • Proven Communication: You will collaborate across cross-functional teams — including Product, Architecture, Engineering, and Data — to ensure a shared understanding of business and technical requirements. Your ability to communicate complex system or data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders will help drive alignment and informed decision-making. Strong documentation and presentation skills will ensure technical artefacts are accurate, traceable, and easy to understand.
  • Execution: With your curiosity and self-starting approach, you will proactively conduct system and data gap analyses, assess API and integration points, and propose innovative technical solutions. You will take ownership of delivery from discovery through implementation, ensuring that designs are validated and aligned with strategic goals. Your drive for precision and accountability will underpin successful project execution and measurable business value.
