The Role & Responsibilities

The Cloud Engineering Team are a key part of the Banks future vision. We are already playing a fundamental role in modernising the Banks infrastructure as we design, build and deploy new workloads onto the Cloud for the Shawbrook Group. We are working on delivering cutting edge cloud technology for the bank as we scale up, modernise, and migrate all of our systems.

We’re looking for a passionate Cloud Engineer to join the team at this exciting and transformative time. Working in a fast paced environment you will advise and guide the business with cloud migrations, new platform deployments and 3rd party Cloud engagements.

This is a varied and dynamic role, at the centre of Shawbrook’s hybrid multi-cloud strategy. You will be supporting high-impact projects that are integral to the bank’s growth and resilience. Current projects focus on migrating essential platforms in mortgages, digital savings, and core banking to enhanced systems designed for reliability and scale.


Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working to help build new and migrate old, Shawbrook systems, onto both Azure and AWS Cloud platforms.
  • Working with your team lead on projects to help define, design and deploy Cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensuring all Cloud Infrastructure is built to Shawbrook's defined standards such as coding, logging, alerting, security and Cloud (Industry) best practice.
  • Working as part of the Cloud Infrastructure team to design long term Cloud Strategies for the Shawbrook Cloud Platform.
  • Building new pipelines to build and test new Cloud Infrastructure, including testing of IaC Using Terraform and Azure DevOps.

The Person

  • Cloud Deployment Architecture- You will need extensive understanding of  structuring architecture for security, resilience, scalability  and overall cost efficiency, including deploying, managing, and securing IaaS, PaaS and SaaS based cloud systems.
  • Terraform- You will be using advanced Terraform skills to script and deploy all cloud infrastructure as code to DevOps pipelines.
  • CICD Pipelines- You will be deploying all infrastructure as code using CI/CD pipelines in line with industry best practices.
  • Azure & AWS- You will use both Azure and AWS to deploy, migrate and manage the Shawbrook Hybrid Multi-Cloud Platform.
  • Cloud Networking Security- You will need a security focused mindset when deploying  and an understand of how network infrastructure communicates  with the cloud in line with security best practice.
  • Experience working in financial services or a highly regulated environment would be beneficial.
