The Role & Responsibilities

  • To support Associate Directors and/or Directors with all aspects of the in-life management of the Financial Sponsors portfolio. You will be required to work collaboratively as part of a team, to ensure all client relationships are managed in accordance with the principles of the SL business model, procedures and best practice.
  • To support the end to end credit process including but not limited to: i) preparation of credit submissions; ii) presenting transactions to credit committee; and iii) preparation of legal documentation. Candidates contribution would span across all areas of the credit spectrum including but not limited to facility amendments (e.g. facility increases), covenant waivers / resets and in-life M&A activity.
  • Post new deal execution, the candidate will be required to actively support in the management of ongoing exposures across a variety of Financial Sponsor Clients. Management of credit stewardship are key parts of this role and include:
    • Diligently monitoring the performance of counterparties ensuring monitoring trackers and call reports are promptly updated post receipt of monthly MI.
    • Analysing complex financial information, including statutory accounts; management accounts (incorporating cash flow analysis), budgets and forecasts (including sensitivity analysis) and Financial Due Diligence reports.
    • Support in checking covenant calculations and undertaking look forward modelling and using these, combined with overall financial analysis to identify concerning trends.
    • Undertaking credit grading analysis and completing pricing models to help ensure the correct balance of risk and reward is maintained across the portfolio.
    • Support and contribute to the preparation of Annual Reviews / Credit Requests.
    • Support on amendments, restructures, and facility enhancements; and to be alert for new business / expansion opportunities with existing customers.
    • To actively communicate and escalate potential risks in a prompt and effective manner, including EWIs and Watch triggers.
    • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data and records as well as detecting errors.
    • Consider market, macroeconomic and regulatory impacts on the portfolio and promptly flag any risks.
    • Participate in rolling out new strategic initiatives for Structured Lending, including compliance, regulatory and risk management oversight, and attend relevant industry events.
  • To support in liaising with clients to deliver excellent customer service and added value. Attend client visits as required, drafting agendas and visit reports. Help to develop and maintain strong, multi-layered relationships with clients at operational and board level, maximising client life and retention. Act as a key support contact for clients and other internal departments.
  • To liaise effectively with the other parts of the Shawbrook Group who play their part in the Financial Sponsors output, including Operations, Credit and Finance.
  • To communicate and escalate potential issues/risks in a prompt and effective manner. To provide support in managing the overall compliance and risk management framework of SL.

The Person

  • Degree or equivalent or work experience appropriate to the role.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in structuring and executing lending transactions.
  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel. Experience with financial models and good understanding of financial statements is beneficial.
  • Industry knowledge in the general finance market desirable but not essential, including a good understanding of lending practices and credit processes.
  • Strong customer service, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Good commercial, financial acumen and capability in strategic thinking.
