The Role & Responsibilities

The Regulatory Reporting Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of regulatory returns to the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Bank of England (BoE). The role plays a key part in ensuring regulatory compliance through the production of COREP, FINREP and other prudential and statistical returns.

The role will also support the ongoing enhancement of the regulatory reporting framework through automation, process improvement and data quality initiatives. Working closely with Finance, Risk, Treasury, Technology and other stakeholders across the Bank, the role will ensure reporting processes remain robust, efficient and aligned with evolving regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of regulatory statistical and supervisory returns to the Bank of England / Prudential Regulation Authority / Financial Conduct Authority / European Banking Authority, including Common Reporting.
  • Review and analysis of the returns to ensure timely and accurate production of the reports in line with reporting definitions.
  • Assist with implementation and automation of current and forthcoming regulatory returns.
  • Assist with improving data extract in line with the regulatory definitions.
  • Assist with designing reports to extract information to support regulatory returns.
  • Liaising with team members within Finance and other stakeholders within the bank with the view to enhance data quality.
  • Maintain and update regulatory reporting documentation, policies and procedures.
  • Assist with any other external reporting if required.
  • Support the production of other external reporting requirements as and when required.

 

The Person

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in regulatory reporting within a banking or financial services environment.
  • Good understanding of prudential regulatory frameworks and reporting requirements, including COREP, FINREP and statistical reporting.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of PRA, FCA and BoE regulatory developments and policy requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using regulatory reporting systems and data extraction tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities to meet tight regulatory deadlines.
  • Proactive approach to process improvement, automation and enhancing control frameworks.
  • Highly organised with strong planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Team-oriented approach with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrates Shawbrook values through openness, transparency, accountability, and a commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to use regulatory reporting software such as Suade, Regnology or similar.
