The Role & Responsibilities
The Risk Analyst will play a critical role in strengthening Shawbrook’s risk management capability. You will provide insightful analysis across multiple asset classes and risk types, help maintain and enhance our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and contribute to reporting, forecasting and stress testing activities.
This is a hands-on, analytical role that requires strong data skills, the ability to recognise patterns and emerging risks and the confidence to translate complex analysis into clear insight for senior stakeholders. A key part of the role will be developing and delivering Power BI dashboards that enable self-serve analytics across the business, ensuring colleagues have timely, accurate information at their fingertips. You’ll also explore how AI and automation can be applied to improve insight, efficiency and decision-making. The role also offers scope to influence how Shawbrook manages risk, with opportunities to contribute to frameworks, governance and special projects.
Key Role Responsibilities
- Develop an in-depth understanding of Shawbrook’s data architecture and how it can be exploited to improve risk insight.
- Produce accurate, timely cyclical and ad-hoc reporting, including MI for the Board, Executive Management, Risk Committees and regulators.
- Support the design, monitoring and enhancement of credit, market and operational risk models, including IFRS9 impairment models.
- Perform scenario analysis, sensitivity testing and stress testing to evaluate emerging risks and portfolio resilience.
- Embed, refine and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management framework, risk appetite metrics and risk taxonomy.
- Conduct thematic reviews and deep dives into areas of emerging concern, highlighting patterns, anomalies and systemic risks.
- Champion risk data quality initiatives; identify opportunities to automate reporting, apply AI and streamline analysis.
- Build dashboards and visualisations in Power BI, enabling self-serve analytics and ensuring risk insights are clear and actionable.
- Collaborate across Risk, Finance, Treasury, Operations and Compliance to ensure aligned and robust risk management.
- Contribute to regulatory submissions and ensure compliance with risk-related policies and frameworks.
- Collaborate with Data teams to ingest new data or to support structuring historically manual data processes into a centralised system
- Provide mentoring and support to junior team members; help build a centre of excellence for risk analytics.
- Support or lead special projects, such as model implementations, process improvements, or adoption of new tools and methods.
