The Role & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Structured Lending Restructuring , principal interfaces will be with Commercial Risk, Property Risk, Collections & Recoveries, Group Credit Risk and Managing Directors business divisions within Structured Lending.
- Provide a specialist advisory function with the primary objective to rehabilitate cases showing signs of distress back to live.
- Provides protection of the bank’s capital within a culture that ensures the delivery of good customer outcomes.
- Support Structured Lending in the management of clients demonstrating early warning signs of distress.
- Maintain a network of external specialist to engage as appropriate to support he turnaround management of clients.
- Actively assist in managing Watchlist cases to ensure proactive management and the appropriate categorisation for Forbearance and Impairment.

Key Responsibilities
- To act as the subject matter expert for Credit Risk and business turnaround within the Divisions, engaging with all stakeholders to support the achievement of the Divisional objectives.
- Strategic planning to continually grow and develop the function to fit with the changing and growing nature of the businesses.
- Provide support to the Originators/Portfolio Managers where cases are identified with early warning signs and ensure appropriate action taken.
- To communicate and escalate potential issues/risks in a prompt and effective manner.
- To report all issues of regulatory concern to the Head of Structured Lending Restructuring and the Bank Legal and Compliance Departments.
- Undertake hands on case management, either solely or in partnership with the RM/PM, where required in the interest of either the bank or the customer.
- Proactive identification of early warning signs in client interaction with Originator/Portfolio Manager.
- Daily reporting of accounts out of order, breaching covenants, internal or external triggers directed to the Business area, with Bus Support oversight of outcomes. Identify client/portfolio/industry triggers either internal or external, communicate to Originators/Portfolio Managers and ensure appropriate action taken.
- Assess cases escalated by the business, undertake due diligence, provide option analysis and agree strategy and tactics, case ownership and reporting requirements.
- Define and monitor Watchlist Trigger events, aligned to Group Credit Stewardship, Reporting and Escalation Policy.
- Responsible for relationship with external data providers for external Trigger events and operational execution.
- Ownership of the maintenance and reporting of Watchlist, including appropriate Watchlist status and provisions allocated.
The Person
- Degree/MBA or similar business qualification or equivalent work experience appropriate to the role
- Proven experience in business finance & Problem Loan Management.
- Deep and broad business and financial acumen
Technical/Specialist Knowledge & Skills
- Significant industry knowledge in the Banking Finance market including a deep understanding of lending practices in that sector, structures, risks, covenant requirements, pricing and competition.
- Demonstrable ability to undertake commercial analysis of a business both in terms of financial and non-financial aspects.
- Excellent customer service, presentation and negotiation skills
- Experience in executive level reporting on strategic initiatives.
- Thorough comprehension of credit risk management, credit administration, loan production and servicing.
- Proven credit risk management skills, including turnaround ability within either banking or finance industry
- Extensive contacts with other Lenders and in the professional community engaged in NPL management.
- Compliance with all regulatory requirements, remaining in good standing with regulatory agencies.
- Strong commercial, financial acumen and capability in strategic thinking, executive level reporting and effective business planning
- Strong customer/intermediary and market insight
