The Role & Responsibilities

The Strategy Analyst plays a pivotal role in enabling the Commercial franchise to make informed decisions, solve key challenges, and deliver on its growth ambitions. This role supports the development and execution of strategic priorities by leveraging both internal and external data to evaluate Shawbrook’s performance, identify growth opportunities, and shape strategic direction.

In addition to core analytical responsibilities, the Strategy Analyst will also support business management functions to ensure the smooth operation of strategic governance and leadership forums.

The Analyst will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, professionalism, and discretion, often engaging with senior stakeholders across the franchise. This dual focus on strategic insight and operational execution ensures the Strategy function remains both analytically rigorous and operationally effective.

Responsibilities

Strategic Insight & Analysis

  • Derive actionable business insights from internal and external data, presenting findings in a compelling and accessible format.
  • Identify business needs and support the development of strategic plans to help the Commercial franchise achieve its goals.
  • Conduct horizon scanning to monitor trends impacting customers and markets.
  • Support the launch and evaluation of new products and initiatives, including inorganic growth opportunities.
  • Deliver regular internal reporting on business performance and strategic progress.

Business Management & Governance

  • Prepare high-quality materials for strategic meetings, committees, and governance forums.
  • Plan and coordinate agendas in collaboration with the Head of Strategy, Commercial, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Manage logistics for internal and external meetings, including scheduling, attendee coordination, and distribution of pre-reads.
  • Prepare briefing packs and ensure materials are aligned for executive and board-level discussions.
  • Track actions and decisions from strategic meetings, ensuring timely follow-up and accountability.

The Person

  • Able to demonstrate previous Insights & Analysis experience from within the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of the SME finance and Real Estate finance sectors will be highly advantageous.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research and analysis across markets, customers, products, and technologies.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to draw logical conclusions from complex data.
  • Skilled in collecting and interrogating data from multiple sources using appropriate analytical tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly and persuasively.
  • Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Able to build and leverage relationships across the organisation to drive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to get things done using initiative, pragmatism, and sound judgment.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with a track record of managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Comfortable operating in environments with ambiguity and change.
