The Role & Responsibilities

We’re looking for a digitally savvy all-rounder: adaptable, curious and practical, with the confidence to get stuck in and work things out. You might bring experience from a mix of roles or side projects. What matters is initiative, good judgement and the drive to make websites work better.

The Website and CMS Manager helps keep the group’s websites accurate, resilient and easy to improve across our multi-brand portfolio. The role combines hands-on content management with strong operational discipline and a sound understanding of how websites work.

A key priority is providing dependable cover for time critical savings and mortgage rate changes. The role will build working knowledge of the relevant publishing processes and support accurate delivery to deadline. It will also manage and improve CMS workflows, automation, maintain content quality and use analytics and SEO/GEO insight to identify practical improvements.

The role requires rigour and diligence, alongside enough technical knowledge to investigate CMS and website issues, manipulate media, understand code where needed, and work effectively with developers, agencies and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the accurate and timely publication of savings and mortgage rate changes, following agreed checks, approvals and deadlines.
  • Provide trained cover for critical publishing processes, reducing key-person dependency and supporting continuity during leave or sickness.
  • Manage day-to-day content creation, updates and publishing through Umbraco across the group’s websites, including headless and hybrid implementations.
  • Prepare and optimise images and other media for web use, including resizing, compression, cropping and adapting assets for different layouts and devices while maintaining quality and brand standards.
  • Understand how content moves from CMS to website front ends through APIs, and support the associated preview, publishing, testing and release processes.
  • Apply strong quality assurance to content and releases, checking links, layouts, formatting, metadata and customer journeys before and after publication.
  • Coordinate website changes, prioritising mandatory and time critical updates alongside business as usual requests.
  • Make first line CMS and website checks, investigate issues and work with developers, agencies and internal teams to resolve them.
  • Build and maintain a practical understanding of the website stack and code, using it to diagnose issues, assess change requests and communicate clearly with technical teams.
  • Monitor content freshness and consistency across the brand portfolio, identifying outdated, duplicated or conflicting information and arranging updates.
  • Use analytics to understand website performance and customer behaviour, then recommend improvements.
  • Support technical SEO and AI visibility improvements through sound content structure, metadata, linking and collaboration with specialists.
  • Help improve CMS processes, publishing guidance, automation and documentation so that routine changes are reliable, repeatable and well governed.
  • Maintain clear records of changes, approvals, testing and recurring issues.

The Person

  • Hands-on experience managing website content through a CMS. Umbraco experience is desirable
  • Understands how websites are built and maintained, including headless or hybrid CMS setups
  • Technically curious, with the confidence to investigate issues and understand code where needed
  • Detail focused and diligent, with the discipline to handle time critical changes accurately
  • Comfortable preparing and optimising media for web use
  • Uses analytics and customer insight to identify practical improvements
  • Adaptable and resourceful, able to move between content, CMS tasks and technical problem solving
  • Communicates clearly and works well with colleagues, developers, agencies and other stakeholders
  • Brings initiative and curiosity, developed through work, study or personal projects
  • Experience in a regulated environment is desirable
