The Role & Responsibilities
Programme Details
The Analyst Development Programme is designed for young professionals looking to pursue a career in financial services, whilst studying towards a Level 6 Financial Services standard and gaining a Chartered Banking Institute (CBI) qualification.
The programme is 21 months in length, and you will spend the time rotating into different areas of our Structured Lending Portfolio Management team.
Rotations will include our different sector specialist teams divided into secured/collateralised products (Development Finance, Asset Based Lending, Speciality Finance) and cashflow lending products (Financial Sponsors and Commercial Loans).
Structured Lending Portfolio Management
The Structured Lending team within Shawbrook provides tailored funding solutions to UK Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (“SMEs”). The Structured Lending Portfolio Management team is responsible for managing our existing SME relationships whilst monitoring the risk for the Bank. Responsibilities include:
- Post new facility onboarding, to assist with the active management of a portfolio of clients and to monitor facility compliance with lending covenants and terms. This includes diligent monitoring of sector trends, performance of borrower / counterparties operations, as well as facility covenants through building and maintaining monitoring sheets. Assisting clients with regular funding requests and ongoing queries.
- Support the annual review and credit process, from time to time including ad-hoc amendment or increase requests and covenant restructures as appropriate. This includes being alert to new business opportunities within the existing customer base.
- Attend relevant industry events. Consider market, macroeconomic and regulatory impacts on the portfolio, stay alert for early warning adverse performance signs. Communicate and escalate potential issues/risks in a prompt and effective manner.
- Develop stakeholder relationships, internally being the credit division, peers and colleagues across lending divisions, compliance and client support functions, whilst externally being clients and relevant counterparties such as legal counsel and other industry partners.
The Person
Degree level qualification in a relevant field or 2+ years work experience in the banking sector, preferably appropriate to the role.
