The Role & Responsibilities

This role will lead a team of Control Testers in a newly created centralised function within Risk Services. The scope of this testing will be bank wide.

The purpose of the role is to ensure that the controls mitigating our most significant risks are tested effectively and efficiently in line with the bank’s standards.

  • Drive efficiencies in control testing processes through systematisation and the integration of AI technologies, enhancing speed and accuracy. Moving away from spreadsheets within their own operations, and identifying areas for automation across the bank. Monitor industry trends and advancements in control testing methodologies and technologies.
  • Work with the Head of Controls to identify areas of concern that require prioritisation in the testing schedule.
  • Work with the control owners, providing guidance on control effectiveness and remediation
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to identify and remove duplication in control testing processes, streamlining operations.
  • Support the execution of control testing, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to the Shawbrook Bank standards.
  • Assess control testing outputs to ensure they meet the policies, standards and regulations, and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Compile and present detailed reports through on control testing results, highlighting key findings, trends, and areas for improvement.

The Person

  • Experience of Python, SQL and Power BI
  • Experience working in a Control testing, or assurance role within Financial Services.
  • Technical mindset, with a track record in creating efficient, systemised and data driven insights.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to leverage and integrate AI.
  • Strong investigative and analytical experience (e.g. enquiries, scanning, analytics, interviewing, testing) demonstrating an ability to identify the root cause.
  • Strong ability to assess control design and operating effectiveness in a complex, regulated environment to identify control gaps and areas for improvement.
