The Role & Responsibilities

  • Originate new Healthcare operators who require lending of between £1m to £25m by proactively identifying and approaching prospects, with or without KBI’s to promote Shawbrook’s products and services
  • Develop and maintain a personal network of KBI’s within the Healthcare sector, professional community and across the Bank to provide a healthy pipeline of new prospects suitable and able for conversion to customers efficiently
  • On occasion, extend and develop business with existing customers in partnership with the portfolio team
  • Meet targets for originations in net assets and volume, product mix, pricing, profit and returns whilst ensuring credit quality is maintained at the highest levels
  • Exercise the highest standards in managing transaction and onboarding processes to ensure operational and control activities are fully satisfied such that prospects become customers via an efficient and seamless process
  • Write high quality credit papers for proposed transactions in timely manner for submission to Credit Risk
  • Promote Shawbrook Bank to the Healthcare business community through networking and attending functions, some of which will be outside of normal business hours
  • Assess quality business through appropriate checks such as cash flow statements, balance sheets and management accounts, searches, and appropriate product information
  • Accountable for primary relationship responsibility for customers in the portfolio, supported by the wider Portfolio team
  • Accountable for credit quality in their portfolio
  • Maintain a proactive and ongoing level of communication with KBI’s and Prospects fully utilising Shawbrook marketing collateral. Along with supporting the production and creation of suitable collateral working with Marketing colleagues

The Person

  • Clear expertise/track record in originating, structuring and writing detail credit papers in complex lending of between £1-25m debt space evidenced by work experience appropriate to the role.
  • Relevant degree or similar business qualification
  • Good commercial, financial acumen and capability in strategic thinking, executive level reporting and effective business planning
  • Extremely strong analytical skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel, being able to manage and handle complex lending cases and issues. Experience with financial modelling and a very good understanding of financial statements is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of cash flow lending transactions, including familiarity with legal documentation.
  • Banking / general finance market knowledge desirable, including a good understanding of lending practices and credit processes (including structures, risks, covenant requirements, pricing and competition).
  • Knowledge / experience of the Healthcare sector is beneficial but not essential.
  • Excellent customer service, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough comprehension of credit risk management, credit administration, loan production and servicing.
  • Compliance with all regulatory requirements, remaining in good standing with regulatory agencies.
  • Confident, ambitious and good team working skills combined with being able to interact within a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport in order to engage employees and gain support of peers.
  • Influencing skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of management, regulators, and committees.
  • Ability to build industry network and develop strong relationships with all business areas.
  • Supports the development of a strong balanced and effective team by conveying clearly goals and expectations.
