The Role & Responsibilities

We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Analyst to join our CTO function.  This junior role is ideal for someone looking to build a strong foundation in technology operations, financial governance, management information (MI), and automated reporting.  The successful candidate will gain exposure across project delivery, finance, data analytics, and operational optimisation, offering a unique opportunity to understand how a modern technology organisation functions end-to-end. 

This role has been created as part of a growing CTO Operations capability.  Over time, this function to evolve into a broader MI and reporting capability that supports strategic and operational decision-making across the entire CTO organisation.  As such, the Operations Analyst will play a key role in shaping this evolution, contributing to the standardisation of financial processes, enhancing data quality, and helping build automated reporting solutions using tools such as Power BI and Power Apps. 

For a candidate with strong analytical skills, curiosity, and a drive to improve ways of working, this role offers an excellent platform for progression.  You will gain hands-on experience with data-driven reporting, financial and delivery governance, and process automation; opening pathways to future careers in technology operations, business analysis, data analytics, or portfolio management. 

Key Role Responsibilities  

Financial Operations & Invoice Management 

  • Process CTO expenditure invoices through the Purchase-to-Pay system, ensuring accuracy and timely submission. 
  • Reconcile invoices against finance trackers to support effective project portfolio budget management. 
  • Maintain up-to-date records of spend, accruals, and forecasts as part of regular financial reporting cycles. 

Budget & Portfolio Support 

  • Review budget trackers with Delivery Teams to validate spend, identify discrepancies, and monitor forecast accuracy. 
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and artefacts for governance forums, highlighting key variances and trends. 

Timesheet & Salary Capitalisation Reporting 

  • Compile and validate timesheet data to support salary capitalisation processes. 
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of timesheet information with financial requirements and audit standards. 

Data Management & Reporting 

  • Maintain, update, and support Power BI reporting built from RAID logs, finance trackers, and other operational data sources. 
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure underlying data structures are accurate, complete, and regularly refreshed. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting dashboards that provide operational and financial insights. 

Process Improvement & Automation 

  • Use Power BI, Power Apps to identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort. 
  • Support the design and implementation of automated solutions that improve data quality, reporting speed, and operational consistency. 
  • Advocate for process optimisation across the CTO function by proactively identifying inefficiencies and proposing improvements. 

The Person

Essential 

  • Strong numerical, analytical, and data-handling skills. 
  • Experience using Power BI, Power Apps, or similar analytics and automation platforms. 
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft 365 tools. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and maintain high attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across technology and finance teams. 
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in continuous improvement. 

Desirable 

  • Experience working in a technology, finance, or project delivery environment. 
  • Familiarity with Purchase-to-Pay processes or finance reconciliation activities. 
  • Understanding of RAID management and portfolio-level reporting. 
  • Exposure to timesheet or resource management processes.
